PRODUCT
PROCESS

At CEI our goal is to assist our clientele to overcome their specific barriers to the utilization of composite imagery products, whether at the steps of image collection in the field (Phase I), technical post processing (Phase II) or in data extraction (Phase III). At each phase we provide tiered services to our customers, offering a range of services, from basic to advanced consulting, through to full contract for services at hires. Our diverse team of biologists, field technicians and engineers works with our customers to select the tier of services best suited to their specific needs.

Image

Acquisition

The first step in digitally archiving natural habitats involves image acquisition. CEI assists clients in important decisions about the needed resolution of imagery, and the spatial scale over which imagery is to be collected. CEI has extensive expertise with a variety of imaging platforms and approaches, whether utilizing our team of expert divers or leveraging semi and fully autonomous approaches. At CEI we help clients identify their core needs and plan surveys to efficiently accomplish their goals.

2.

Model

Construction

At CEI we use Structure-from-Motion (SfM) to create digital representations of the natural world. Our team works with clients to design image processing workflows specific to project objectives. We use a variety of computational resources to generate comprehensive representations of targets of interest including 3D point clouds, meshes, and 2D orthomosaics and digital elevation models (DEMs).

Visualization +

Custom Analysis

Our visualization and analytics platform allows for an immersive experience to view and interact with your data in a virtual environment. Built-in analytics tools facilitate the extraction of basic biological and geometric information. We also specialize in developing custom analytics tools to meet client needs that fall outside of standardized workflows.

Our Story

The team at CEI originally came together in the interest of tackling important ecological and conservation based issues facing shallow tropical coral reef ecosystems. Beginning in 2012 we sought to develop an approach to broaden our view of these important habitats using cutting edge underwater mapping techniques. Over the coming years these goals brought together our team of expert biologists, engineers and software developers working together to innovate the approach known as large-area imaging. This approach of archiving and studying the natural world eventually expanded beyond our original academic intentions, and CEI was formed in 2020 to expand the reach of our approach and service a broader mission including governmental, non-profit and private partnerships.

Our Vision

CEI is committed toward servicing the needs of clients in collecting, processing, interpreting, storing, and visualizing image-based data. CEI offers services for brands, businesses, nonprofits and governmental agencies for all aspects of large-area imaging including Image Acquisition, Model Construction, Visualizations and Custom Analysis on a singular and repeat basis. CEI is available both at the advisory and full contract for services levels, help clients to create plans to execute projects independently or with direct support from the CEI team.

Technology

CEI uses proprietary operating procedures and technology for developed specifically for the creation of detailed 3-dimensional models of the natural world. Our extensive experience in field-operations, camera and geopositioning technologies and cutting edge visualization and analytical software provides our clients an unparalleled level of detail and precision.
